The First Week.....

The last seven days have been a learning curve for us all!

I have to say that Max has settled in really well and he's a joy, no trouble at all. He's decided that he needs to 'kill' every toy we give him and I think perhaps we should have called him the "Dark Destroyer", there's not a puppy toy in the house that is safe from his jaws... The good thing is that he hasn't started chewing anything in the house, apart from Dad No. 1's sheepskin slippers, but after all, he's trying to 'kill' the sheep so he can be sort of let off for that, he's protecting us from a lamb attack!

Apart from killing his toys, Max has been undergoing the dreaded toilet training and I am pleased to report that he is a wonderful student!!! He's learning very quickly that he needs to go either on his training pad by the back door or to go out. There are a few accidents throughout the day when we're at work but they're to be expected and he is only 4 months old and still in relatively new surroundings (he's very advanced for his age!). Personally, I am thankful that we have a small dog as his little 'deposits' are so much easier to deal with than say a German Shepherd, although Max does think he is one despite his diminutive size!!!!

Max's first big adventure was going to be his puppy jab, which should have taken place this morning at Lordship Lane Vets in East Dulwich. However, due to me getting on a bus to Sutton instead of getting off at Waddon (don't ask!!!!) I was late home and he is now going on Monday for the first jab. However, he does have a brand spanking new collar and is happily parading himself around the home showing it off.

All in all, Max has had a very busy week. He's also been to Pets At Home in Blackheath for his bowls and his bed, plus a few toys which, as mentioned before, have all been 'killed'. We took him to Surbiton to meet Aunty Em and Uncle Hen and he had a fab time, getting tons and tons of attention....he's had a steady stream of visitors actually!

Max has met the Girls (http://hensinthecity.blogspot.com) and very well behaved he was too. He's not sure if he wants to love them or lick them to death. Ruby and Harriet are not bothered either way but Stella was none too pleased with his arrival and was a little vocal. We're introducing him steadily and it's going well, he WILL be a Chicken Hound, he WILL!

We can't wait for Max's jabs to be done and dusted so that we can put him on his lead and take him to the allotment, the park and just for walks in general.....there will, of course, be pictures!

Maximillian Sydney Bruiser McEllis has settled in very well and we love him.

Meet Max.....

This is Max, our new puppy!

Max is a rescue dog. He is 4 months old and was born in Sydenham, South East London in November 2009.

He arrived on 20th February 2010 and this blog will be the story of Max and all his BIG adventures, his journey from puppy to adult and all that happens inbetween (most of which will probably be very naughty!!!!).

Max shares his home, not only with his two Dads, but also a selection of goldfish in the pond and The Girls - Harriet, Ruby and Stella. You can check out http://hensinthecity.blogspot.com to find out more about The Girls. He will become, through expert training, a fantastic Chicken Hound!

His first 24 hours were very busy with visitors coming to see him and a trip to Pets At Home to buy his new bed, lead, collar and toys, etc (not that he will be spoilt of course!)

Keep checking to see how Max is getting on and what mischief he is getting himself into....
